On Friday May 15 the young up and coming Chicago rapper Polo G released his second album, simply named ‘The GOAT’. It includes 16 exceptional tracks. Although believed that Polo G’s new album could not live up to his debut album Die A Legend and succumb to the sophomore album curse he has had positive feedback and great success in just the first week. Adding to the success are featured rappers, Lil Baby, Mustard, Stunna 4 Vegas, BJ The Chicago Kid and even the recently passed away rapper, Juice WRLD! With new fire songs and magnificent features you are going to want to check this album out!
Polo G released his album the same day as Future’s new album High Off Life which could very well mean Polo G might not make it to number one, but instead close second behind Future. Yet it will never the less still be an outstanding album with tremendous projected growth.
The Album excels at providing heartfelt lyrics on every track. The gems of his album are “Go Stupid”, “Flex”, “Heartless” and “Wishing For A Hero”. All these songs are diverse in style and features. His song “Wishing For A Hero” has the beat of “Changes” from 2Pac and is quite an outstanding song in his album.
the song “Flex” is another song that is tribute to a dead rapper, only this time the rapper has his own verse in the song. This rapper is no one other than Juice WRLD, who overdosed in December of 2019. This song captures the journey from rags to riches. The contrast of Juice WRLD and Polo G is delivered perfectly and their two completely different styles work together to make this song.
His most popular song released before he dropped the album is “Go Stupid” featuring NLE Choppa and Stunna 4 Vegas. These rappers have created a nonstop intense song that is widely known and has made a name for itself on the social media app TikTok over the last months.
Heartless is another gem on Polo G’s new album. released in late September of 2019 it is his oldest song on the album. Yet it is still his most notable one. It has been considered to be one of Polo’s best songs. It talks about what is happening around in his personal life. It is a great addition to his album.
Polo G could very well improve his album by adding more variety to his producers. Yet that doesn’t take away from the quality of the album.
